We've released Zenario 11.1 for OnZenario clients, and hope to release the open source version soon.
The new version packs an incredible number of features into a single release. Here's a guide to what's changed.
For a more visual guide please visit onzenario.com.
There's now a style editor available via the main Tools menu of the admin toolbar. Look for the "Style editor", and open it.
It has both desktop and mobile previews, and the right hand panel lets you choose from a range of in-built fonts. There are selectors for colours for different purposes.
The last tab shows a brand summary, where you can see all chosen fonts and colours in one place, for easy overviewing.
When creating a content item on the front end, the process is now simpler.
An administrator now only needs to enter title and minimal other data in order to create the content item — confirm the automatic choice of menu position and the layout — and then edit the page.
Meta data can be added later, and the handy "Suggest" button now gets Zenia (AI assistant) suggestions for description, keywords and summary fields.
There is now a "Version review" view which can be reached by clicking the version number of a content item in the admin toolbar.
It reveals a panel sliding in from the right, in which you can view the full history of the current content item, including published version and any draft.
The administrator can click the "Preview" button to see the different versions, and choose between desktop and mobile views.
We have further improved the menu management system.
This view is accessible both from the front end (in the admin toolbar open "Tools" and click "Menu"), and from Organizer.
It's possible to:
The image library now has a new Pinterest-style, or cascade type view. You can select an image and work with it just like in list view.
Zenia can give advice on how to use Zenario, and can write pages for you. You can use it to improve an existing page, add meta data, and reformat content.
Zenia now pays attention to the "About my organization" panel in Organizer. So when asking for it to improve a page, it takes that information into account for a better quality response.
There are now statistics available for select and radio-type fields on the Users dataset, so it's easy to get broad analytics on your user & contact base.
To access statistics, just go to Organizer->Users & Contacts, and look for Statistics in the left hand navigation.
When installing a new site, administrators can now choose what modules they want to have running from start-up.
We have now replaced the popular TinyMCE WYSIWYG editor with HugeRTE, which works very nicely.
HugeRTE is forked from the last MIT-licensed commit of the TinyMCE, so it keeps Zenario free to download.
We've changed the way you can select a preferential menu node to Organizer->Configuration->Content type settings.
When editing the content type, for example Blog, you can then select the page in the menu under which content items of that type will be created.
It's now possible to select multiple menu nodes so that the author has a choice, and for the same menu node to be selected for different purposes. As before, you can make the menu node just a suggestion, or enforce that all content items of that type (e.g. all Blog articles) are created in that part of the menu.
We have added a star rating to the Testimonial content type, so beside showing a customer quote you can easily display star ratings.
Forms can now have a closing date. A warning appears to users that there is a closing date, and optionally a specific time; and the form cannot be set after that deadline.
There are now more granular controls over caching, controlled from within Organizer's site configuration area.
It is possible to enable or disable page caching and plugin caching separately. By disabling plugin caching on public-only websites, performance can be greatly improved as cache size stays smaller, and cache clears are much faster.
On all plugin settings boxes, we have now removed the Frameworks tab, so that all options are available via the plugin's settings.
The Frameworks tab will only appear when there are custom frameworks for that plugin.
When creating a content item, if an administrator gives it an alias whose name is the same as a spare alias, the interface will ask the administrator if they want to remove the spare alias and proceed, or if they want to change the new alias name.
There is now better info about recipients lists, and the conditions for excluding people.
The Unsubscribe screen is now improved.
Zenario's analytics system, which links with Matomo, now adds an event whenever a Zenario form is submitted.
Zenario now records who created an admin account, and who updated an admin account, and the dates.
When logging in, administrators who have reset their password now don't have a choice to keep the temporary password.
When emptying the trash of archived content items, it is now possible to select how long in the past to permanently delete.
On extranet sites, login is now possible using Necessary cookies only, rather than requiring users to accept Functional cookies. See our article on cookie law changes for 2026.
A number of things have been simplified for Community sites, such as removing Region support from the Countries list (see Organizer, International->Countries).
