Zenario 11.0 is here, and available now to our hosted clients.

There are a considerable number of new features and improvements in all areas.

Here's what's new.

Introducing Zenia, the AI Assistant

We've integrated AI into Zenario, with the aim that AI can assist you in website and extranet management, but without taking over completely.

A key feature of this is Zenia, which is an AI assistant that can:

  • Give help with Zenario usage
  • Help with creating content, optimising it for search engines etc.
  • Format content so it's web-friendly
  • Suggest alt tags for images

More features will be added over time in the coming weeks.

Images

Images from Unsplash

Zenario now has an API connection to Unsplash. You'll need to have an API key, but once installed, you can easily run a search for images on Unsplash, and download them directly in to the image library.

Unsplash Feature

Managing images

There is now a handy feature in Organizer's Library, to filter images according to size. So for example, if you are looking for large images, you can search for ultrawide images via the new dropdown filter:

Image Width Filtering

Automatic ALT tag suggestions

It's now easy to write SEO-friendly alt tags for images. With Zenia running, there is now a "Suggest" button, to request a better alt tag for any image:

Image rendering

Images were previously only rendered at retina-type quality when they were 2x the size of the canvas (for example, a Banner plugin's image size). We have adjusted this so that images now only need to be 1.5x the canvas size in order to show at retina quality.

Menu

There's a completely new menu management system, which lets administrators view their entire site navigation more easily.

It looks more familiar, like the site itself, for example, like this:

New Menu Sitemap Viewer

There is a zoom control, to zoom back and get the overview, or to zoom in and get a closer look. To make changes, there is a Site Planner view:

New Menu Site Planner 1

Then to add a page, an administrator can just click a "+" icon, and see a list of available content types that may be added at that position:

Other menu improvements

There are also several efficiency improvements when Zenario is rendering the menu on the front end.

In the Breadcrumb Trail plugin, it is no longer possible to choose the "Use a specific menu node" option. (This was rarely used and a likely source of confusion).

Also, the Breadcrumb Trail now shows links to Published (unlisted) content items, to aid navigation away from unlisted pages.

Better built-in Analytics

We have improved the analytics; not only is there in-page analytics on all links, but when viewing any given page, an administrator can now immediately see the total traffic to the page, the number of entries at the page, and the average time on page, during the last 7 days. See this example:

Documents

There has been a problem with sites that have hierarchical documents with too many documents at the top level, i.e. outside of folders. There is now a warning on the Hierarchical Documents panel that warns administrators when too many documents are outside of any folder structure. This helps prevent sites with many documents getting disorganised.

Content Summary Lists

The Content Summary List and Event Summary List plugins now allow administrators to view published-unlisted content items in the list.

There is a setting in the plugin which determines whether just administrators see such content items in the list, all users, or not at all.

When viewing a content item that contains a Content Summary List, there is now a toast message that reminds administrators not to edit content directly there, but to go to the listed content item to edit it.

Site-wide HTML and JavaScript

We have re-arranged the site-wide HTML and JavaScript floating admin box, so as to make it much more logical to use. The grouping is now:

  • HTML/JS in head
    • if analytics cookies accepted
    • if social media cookies accepted
    • irrespective of cookie acceptance
  • HTML/JS in start of body
    • if analytics cookies accepted
    • if social media cookies accepted
    • irrespective of cookies
  • HTML/JS in foot
    • if analytics cookies accepted
    • if social media cookies accepted
    • irrespective of cookies.

Extranet user management

Sites with an extranet can now track more detailed user login and logout activity.

When viewing a user's details, and in the Organizer Users panel, it is now possible to see the login frequency for each user.

To use this feature, it is first necessary to go to the Site Settings->User and Contact data panel, and Options, and enable the feature.

CSS management

There is a major change in the way fonts are managed.

There is now a Skin Properties admin box, like this:

Skin Properties FAB

You can similarly use it to set colours:

Skin Properties FAB Colors

When saved, the choices give rise to an auto-created 0.tokens.css file. CSS-savvy administrators may then wish to fine-tune settings in the CSS editor:

Starting modules

When starting a module, such as News (zenario_ctype_news) or Blog (zenario_ctype_blog), there is now a new starter layouts system which allows one or more layouts related to that content type to be created automatically. There is a starter_layouts.yaml file in the module's directory, and this is sufficient to define the geometry of the layout and what plugins should be on the layout.

Organizer changes

We have moved the Modules panel to the first level of navigation in Organizer, instead of being in the Library.

Content item privacy options

When editing the privacy of a content item, the options to "Call a module's static method
to decide (advanced)" and "Send a signal to decide (advanced)" are now only available in ProBusiness.
